My blog is changing….

by NancyElin

Sunrise in The Netherlands….during a morning bike ride!

  1. Yes, my blog is changing.
  2. I enjoyed many weeks this summer NOT reading and NOT blogging
  3. just to give myself time to recharge my batteries.
  4. What I will continue to do is write book reviews.
  5. I’ve loved reviewing over the years and my book collection has not stopped growing or changing.
  6. A huge reason I want to write less frequently….
  7. is so that I have more time to actually read the books
  8. … which in turn can help me to post more book reviews and less fluff.
  9. The best books always make me think, reflecting on what I’ve learned,
  10. rather than simply sharing whether I liked the book or not.
  11. See you again with a review….as soon as the spirit moves me

  1. I managed to read 12 books this summer ...before my reading break.

      Thank you, Cathy!
Once I made the decision to slow my blogging down…I felt a new energy.
I started to gather the books I REALLY want to read without any pressure of 10 blog posts a month or joining any reading challenges in the near future….etc. I feels great!

Can I link this “wrap-up” to your blog even though the title does not mention #20booksofSummer23?

It is so lovely to hear from you again 😊. Your blog should be about you and your life. If it is becoming a burden then I give you permission to change what ever you want! I love your photographs and value your insights. Blog to your own drummer my friend! Mary Lee

Thanks, Mary Lee…reading should enrich your life not be a point of ‘stress’ to blog about every book. I managed to start every day this summer (…if there was no wind or rain storm) with 1 hr bike ride! (15 km) It has become an addiction now. So relaxing and a good way to wake my body up for the coming day. This misty morning photograph means the nights are longer and cooler….and the Fall is right around the corner. Thanks for stopping by!

Lovely to have you back Nancy. The only reason I miss Twitter is keeping up with you over the summer months when you have your blogging hiatus.

Glad to be back! Once I gave myself the freedom to step back from the blog….it gave me a chance to realise how much I missed it! Twitter…you were one of the people ( along with @Clairewords) I looked forward to communicating with. Miss you still on X formerly known as Twitter! Slowly creating a reading schedule for my days with a short monthly reading list. Not trying to read as many books as possible..just trying to keep my reading as varied as possible (Hispanic Heritage Month, RIPXVIII…reading my first Stephen King books…current non-fiction)
I see “Spell the Month September” you’ve chosen a stunning list of Australian writers! Good to hear from you…
PS. Glad you liked Kingsolver’s book…to each his own.

Your new plans sound very good, Nancy. I have problems balancing reading, reviewing, and then actually doing the rest of the things in my life too. Always trying to find a better way to approach these issues.

Tracy, I find I have to let go of the idea that I have to write a long review of every book! If the book warrants a blogpost, (for example the classic by Charles Dickens) I’ll write it, otherwise I will link my Goodreads review to my complete reading list. Goodreads is a great place to jot down my thoughts in a few sentences….or even one word!
Also…I’m trying to read all the novels by a few authors. I want to see the progression in their writing. I’m starting out with smth you might like or perhaps you’ve already read him: Charles Willeford and his hardboiled detective series with “Hoke Moseley”. Let’s keep making READING fun and not a homework! Good to hear from you!
