#Snow, books and morning coffee!

by NancyElin

  1. Winter started early here in The Netherlands!!
  2. Snow, ice and of our national pasttime, ice skating!
  3. No morning bike rides b/c I don’t want to hit an icy patch
  4. …and break something!
  5. Winter wonderland morning here…blanketed by
  6. a early cover of snow…and it didn’t melt away.
  7. With global warming the neighborhood kids should feel lucky
  8. they could build a snowman last evening!

  1. Browsing through some cookbooks with my coffee and  am
  2. going to try Nigella Lawson’s Xmas morning  Muffins.

  1. Nothing complicated: dry ingredients measured the night before
  2. …put muffin cases in the tin…and in the morning pre-heat oven
  3. …whisk a few “wet’ ingredients in a jug and stir them into the waiting bowl.
  4. I think I’ll make them on Xmas Eve morning…love that day filled with excitement.

I coudn’t wait until Xmas!!

  1. Xmas is all about traditions we inherit…and some we invent.
  2. Cooking and baking are the small joys of life.

Last but not least….book pile!

Lovely to see your new kitchen being put to such good use!! I can almost smell those muffins :-)

The snow looks pretty…cold – I hope you’re cosy & warm inside enjoying one of those new books.

More snow this evening….then hopefully the wind will change direction bringing our temps above freezing. I always wish for a ‘White Christmas’ but after 10 days of winter I’ve had enough. I had to walk 5 km to get my Covid shot and 5 km back home….b/c it was too slippery to be on a bike. Time for my well deserved cup of coffee!

We need some of that here! Our first summer heatwave is moving across the state this weekend. And we will be in Mudgee where they’re expecting a 39°C tomorrow!!!

What a great selection of reading you have ahead of you.
And we’ve got almost the same amount of snow in northern Ontario.
I love the winter, so I will be happy when it gets to serious snow.
Unbowed is both interesting and inspiring.

That snowy scene looks so charming, as I lay here in my bed at 9 o’clock at night, summer jammies and windows open because it was 80F here today.

Those muffins look scrumptious and I always love seeing book stacks!
