#Christmas Eve 2023

by NancyElin

  1. If you can’t beat them…join them.
  2. Cats bring joy to my day…but at Christmas
  3. …they are persona non grata.

Ben & Jerry look very innocent…but they are not!

  1. The morning begint with this Dutch tradition:  Kerststol.
  2. All year I wait for this be in the stores.
  3. The most difficult part is to pace myself and hope this treat
  4. lasts until Christmas!
  5. Yes, a Dutch tradition but with IRISH butter…the best!

  1. What is Christmas without music?
  2. These are my favorites albums…
  3. …and they are “play on loop” all week!

Josh Groban’s version of “I’ll Be Home for Christmas”…brings me to tears, really, it does.

Have a listen!

  1. I HATED to go to piano lessons with Sister Edth  at the Convent of St. Joseph.
  2. My mother insisted…
  3. …and she’s given me the gift of music for a lifetime!
  4. Wine…is always a great incentive to practice these days!

Throw back Christmas…1950s…a simpler life

Don’t forget to give you cat or dog a special Christmas hug!

  1. The table is set….awaiting as  Ben & Jerry say:
  2. CATmus and SantaPAWS!
  3. Have a wonderful holiday with family and friends.

Duchess potatoes, lemon parm asparagus and Shrimp Rockefeller (a little two bite app)! Might need some slagroom for those apples! I ordered a chocolate mousse cake from a French bakery in New Canaan and I can’t wait to dig in… I may be eating chocolate mousse all weekend!! But they do say “eat dessert first”!!
Ben & Jerry had better mind their P’s & Q’s or Santapaws will be leaving coal in their stocking!!

Can you describe the taste of the Kerststol? I Googled and it sounds like almond and citrus? Yum.

Your house and table look beautiful!!

Love the childhood photo. Are you the older or younger sister?

Ben and Jerry look like they are up to no good!

    Merry Christmas, Nancy!!!

Kertstol: yeast bread filled with a center of confection made of ground almonds or almond paste, sugar, marzipan.

I sent this to my husband last night so that he could enjoy the photos, and then I forgot to comment. I love the kitties in the first two photos and the caged tree.

I hope you and the kitties have lovely holidays this year and into the next.

Thanks for stopping by….and a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year this weekend in sunny California! Our holiday was full of rain and wind but the warmest Christmas on Dutch weather records. Climate change? Trying to get back to reading after many days grocery shopping, cooking and watching movies!

A very merry Christmas to you too Nancy!
Love the majorette boots! And your Christmas table looks divine. I hope those cheeky cats left your tree unharmed.
We had a very summery Christmas with my extended family this year. My sister has a pool, so we spent our time lazing around it, playing games with the kids and eating lots of salad and seafood. Very relaxing.

Such a different Xmas celebration in Australia….sounds delightful while we batten down the hatches for a week of wind, storm, flooding and more rain! 1 x per year I deck the “table” with the proverbial boughs of holly! Time to get ready for the 31 Dec fireworks, but it isn’t sure large shows will proceed b/c of the weather. We’ll see. Happy New Year for this weekend.

        HNY to you too Nancy!
I hope the weather settles down a bit so you can enjoy a fireworks display.
